Event Details

This is a multi-agency course; it is open to all agencies/services and is appropriate for anyone who comes into contact with adults through the course of their work (including voluntary work).

The course provides basic awareness raising of the issue of self-neglect in the community and within a care setting, and will cover: –

  • Understand what is meant by self-neglect.
  • Recognise the signs of self-neglect and who may be at risk.
  • Understand how the Adult Support & Protection 2007 (Scotland) Act may be applied.

Delegates will receive an overview of the behaviours which leads to self-neglect to help them identify those who may be at risk at an early stage. They will also explore how this type of harm relates to the Adult Support & Protection 2007 (Scotland) Act. They will be signposted to sources of help, if they believe an adult to be at risk of harm.
