Event Details

The new Female Genital Mutilation (Scotland) Bill is was introduced at the end of May. The Scottish Government published the National Action Plan to Prevent and Eradicate FGM in February 2016, which sets out a series of objectives and actions that fall under three main categories: Prevention, Protection and Provision. The plan is set to expire in 2020, and we are now beginning to consider what our next steps should be.

We will be using this summit as an opportunity to gather all of our key stakeholders to discuss the Scottish Government’s approach to preventing and eradicating FGM. This includes discussions around the new FGM Bill; and reviewing the progress that has been made since the publication of the FGM National Action Plan, including recognising areas of success and good practice, along with areas where further work may be required to drive progress.

An agenda, along with any relevant papers, will be circulated no later than two weeks before the event.
