Dumfries and Galloway Community Justice and Violence Against Women and Girls joint conference takes place on Wednesday 13 March 2019 at Dumfries Baptist Church Centre.

The conference, ‘From Hurt to Hope: Moving from blame and shame to understanding’ will provide delegates with an opportunity to explore the links between our two areas of work, enabling us all to work more effectively, recognising the trauma many people experience throughout their lives.

This will be a full day event with a packed agenda of interesting speakers both local and National as well as varied and informative workshops morning and afternoon. The programme includes:

Why Violence Against Women is a Community Justice issue
Putting the verb in to trauma informed
Trauma Informed Policing
Making the links – commercial sexual exploitation and violence against women
Police response to domestic abuse including the new Domestic Abuse Act
Child Sexual Exploitation and launch of ‘It Happens Here’
Women in the justice system – vulnerabilities and support
Expert Panel Session
