Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs (SFAD) are delivering thee Family Inclusive Practice Training courses on behalf of South Ayrshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership.

Course Dates: Thursday 7 February, Monday 4 March and Friday 22 March 2019

 Course aims:

  • To increase awareness of family inclusive practice in relation to the evidence base, ROSC development and implementing and embedding The Quality Principles in service delivery.
  • To provide practical strategies to work with families and overcome barriers to family engagement.
  • To improve the knowledge, skills and confidence of participants to effectively work with families inclusively, including recognising the potential benefits to clients and their families in terms of long-term sustained recovery.

Learning outcomes:

On completion of training participants will be able to:

  • Define family inclusive practice.
  • Recognise the impact on, and support needs of, families affected by others’ substance misuse in their own right.
  • Relate family engagement to positive, sustained recovery outcomes for individuals misusing substances and their families.
  • Recognise the influence of practitioner values on family inclusive practice.
  • Identify engagement strategies and opportunities to incorporate families in own practice to support family recovery.
