Our Community Justice Outcomes Improvement Plan – Beginnings, Belonging, Belief
The Community Justice (Scotland) Act 2016 states that locally, community justice partners must compile a Community Justice Outcomes Improvement Plan (CJOIP). This plan must also take account of:
- The National Strategy for Community Justice,
- The Community Justice Outcomes, Performance and Improvement Framework
and, in our case, the three Ayrshire Local Outcome Improvement Plans (LOIPs) produced by the CPPs under the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.
At Community Justice Ayrshire we developed our plan by engaging partners and service users, focusing on a ‘strengths-based’ approach. Through several consultation events, we took the views of prisoners within HMP Kilmarnock, local justice service users, and a wide cross-section of practitioners from across our community justice partners.
This resulted in Beginnings, Belonging, Belief which was circulated for consultation prior to being endorsed by the Community Justice Ayrshire Shadow Board in March 2017. The CJOIP contains a number of commitments that our partnership will work towards from 1 April 2017.
